Majlis approves Ameeza's appointment as Commissioner General of Taxation
The Parliament has unanimously approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioner Fathimath Ameeza as the new Commissioner General of Taxation with 64 votes in favor. Ameeza, who received a score of 92.44 percent during her interview with the Economic Affairs Committee, succeeds Hassan Zareer following his resignation from the post.

The People's Majlis has approved the appointment of Fathimath Ameeza to the vacant position of Commissioner General of Taxation.
President Muizzu has nominated Mohamed Haleem Abdulla and Fathimath Ameeza for the position of Commissioner General of Taxation.
The matter was reviewed by the Parliament's Economic Affairs Committee. Following interviews with both candidates, the committee approved the submission of their names to the floor, ranked according to their evaluation scores. Ameeza received a score of 92.44 percent, while Haleem—the President’s preferred nominee—was awarded 82.89 percent by the committee.
As Ameeza received the highest marks from the committee, her name was the first to be put to a vote on the floor. She was subsequently approved with the unanimous support of all 64 lawmakers present.
Ameeza, who has been with MIRA since its inception in 2010, currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.
The position of Commissioner General of Taxation became vacant following the resignation of Hassan Zareer. Zareer stepped down from the post after being appointed by the President to a senior role within the Ministry of Finance and Government Companies.
