F. Feeali oil barge fire destroys ice plant: Ministry team arrives to assess damages
A fire that originated on a fuel boat docked at the Feeali harbor has spread, completely destroying the island's ice plant and several vessels beyond use. A team from the Ministry of Fisheries is currently on the island to assess the extent of the damage and seek immediate solutions for the difficulties facing local fishermen. While one expatriate sustained injuries in the incident, the island’s fuel shop and several other vessels also suffered varying degrees of damage.

A team from the Ministry of Fisheries has traveled to F. Feeali to assess the damages following a fire on a fuel boat docked at the island's harbor last Thursday, which completely destroyed the local ice plant.
According to the Ministry, a technical team is currently active in Feeali to assess the damages caused by a recent fire. The team is evaluating the impact on the MIFCO ice plant and several fishing vessels affected by the incident.
A fire that broke out on a fuel tanker docked at the Feeali harbor has completely destroyed two grouper fishing vessels and the island’s ice plant, rendering them unusable. Several other vessels in the vicinity also sustained varying degrees of damage in the incident.
In response to the incident, the Ministry of Fisheries stated that the government is currently assessing the damages caused by the fire and is working to find an expedited solution.
An eyewitness at the scene told RaajjeMV that the fire on the oil tanker spread rapidly, resulting in extensive damage.
The incident resulted in the total destruction of the MIFCO ice plant on the island. Additionally, two grouper fishing vessels and a sand-transporting barge were burned beyond repair, while a newly launched fiber vessel sustained extensive damage from the fire.
Furthermore, the fire spread to a nearby fuel station, causing damage to the fuel dispensers and various sections of the structure.
A Bangladeshi national working on the oil tanker sustained severe burn injuries in the incident and has received treatment at the local health center.
