Two Indian women have been arrested for attempting to smuggle two kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives.
The Criminal Court has remanded two Indian women into custody for 15 days following their arrest for attempting to smuggle over two kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives. Customs and police are conducting a high-priority joint investigation into the matter, which includes efforts to identify any additional accomplices involved in the trafficking operation.

Two Indian women have been arrested at Velana International Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle more than two kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives.
Police have identified the individuals arrested in connection with this case as Jennifer Paul, 34, and Ulfat Rasool, 23, both of whom are Indian nationals.
The two individuals were arrested on April 1st upon their arrival in the Maldives, after drugs were discovered in their possession. Maldives Customs Service detained the suspects and handed them over to the police on allegations of attempting to smuggle over two kilograms of narcotics into the country.
Following their production before the Criminal Court to determine their remand status, the court ordered both individuals to be detained for a period of 15 days.
Police stated that the service is further investigating the matter. Customs and police are currently engaged in intensive joint efforts to prevent the smuggling of narcotics into the Maldives.
