Presidential Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed has faced widespread criticism following her remarks claiming that opposition parties lack any form of robust internal systems.
In an interview with a local media outlet prior to April 4, Heena stated that the opposition currently lacks any robust political structure and noted that their efforts are now focused on the 2028 presidential election.
Referring to the MDP, Heena stated that the party is deeply fractured and shows no visible effort toward winning the Local Council or Women's Development Committee elections. She further noted that the party appears to have abandoned its candidates, focusing instead on the upcoming referendum vote.
The opposition currently lacks any semblance of a robust political structure. They are currently preoccupied with internal friction and the formation of rival factions ahead of the upcoming presidential election. Furthermore, we see no evidence of them preparing for the local council elections. Instead of supporting their own candidates, they have abandoned them to focus their efforts on the referendum issue.Heena Waleed, Spokesperson at the President's Office
Heena's remarks have drawn widespread criticism following the results of the three elections. Social media has been flooded with public backlash, with many raising pointed questions regarding her statement.
Some have questioned whether the public is dissatisfied with the current administration and whether there is a need to reform government policies.
During Heena’s tenure as CEO of NSPA, there have been mounting calls for accountability amid declining service standards and a series of emerging issues. Many have also demanded her resignation following a recent incident where a child passed away after the agency reportedly withheld authorization to import a life-sustaining medical tube.
Some critics have asserted that Heena and other government officials lack the standing to criticize opposition parties, noting that the current cost of living has reached unprecedented levels of hardship. Furthermore, many citizens have expressed that the government has lost public support, suggesting that the results of the upcoming three elections will serve as a clear indication of this shift in sentiment.
