Waheed: President knows PNC members will not campaign if parliamentary elections follow presidential polls
Waheed stated that the President is aware that PNC members would not support a vote-buying campaign if the parliamentary elections were held after the presidential election, which is why efforts are being made to conduct both elections on the same day.

Former Ungoofaaru MP Mohamed Waheed (Wadde) has stated that the President is well aware that PNC members will not cooperate in any vote-buying campaigns if the parliamentary elections are held following the presidential election.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Noonekey" campaign program, Waheed stated that once Members of Parliament enter the presidential residence, Mulee'aage, their previous rhetoric shifts. He further asserted that the current PNC members have effectively become "slaves" to the administration.
Furthermore, Waheed noted that the People's National Congress (PNC) previously included members who at least had the courage to voice their opinions. He further remarked that the current PNC members in Parliament appear to be significantly weaker in comparison.
He stated that even members of the PNC itself share these concerns.
Waheed further stated that if foreign workers could be recruited to serve in Parliament, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu would have done exactly that. He noted that the President is currently dealing with Members of Parliament in any manner he sees fit.
Furthermore, Waheed stated that the President is well aware that PNC members would not cooperate in a vote-buying campaign if the parliamentary elections were held separately after the presidential election. He added that this is the primary reason behind the efforts to conduct both elections on the same day.
Speaking during the program, Abdullah Waheed, the MDP's spokesperson for the local council elections, alleged that the current members of Parliament have been compromised by bribery. He further stated that PNC members now lack the courage to raise even the simplest questions regarding issues affecting their own constituencies.
He stated that the current organization of the election raises concerns that many citizens may lose their right to vote. He further noted that there is evident government influence over independent institutions.
