Authorities notified of grievances raised by foreign restaurant workers following a protest staged by employees
Thirteen expatriate workers at Riveli Beach Restaurant in Hulhumale' have staged a protest over unpaid wages, overtime compensation, and poor working conditions. Police attended the scene to mediate with management and advised the employees to seek a resolution through the relevant authorities and legal channels.

Police have stated that the concerns of several expatriate employees working at a restaurant in Hulhumale have been submitted to the relevant authorities, following a protest staged by the workers.

Regarding the matter, police stated that they received reports at approximately 15:50 on March 10, 2026, involving a group of employees at a restaurant in Hulhumale' Phase 1 who had ceased work and staged a protest over salary-related grievances.
Police confirmed that officers visited the scene following the report and met with both staff and management. Authorities noted that discussions were held between the two parties, and they were informed that the employees' grievances have already been formally submitted to the relevant government agencies.
Police have instructed the parties involved to resolve the matter through legal channels. Furthermore, authorities stated that they have advised them to maintain public order and refrain from any unlawful activities.
Furthermore, police stated that they have received no reports of any violence or unlawful acts occurring during the protest.
Approximately 13 expatriate employees participated in the protest.
The employees held a protest carrying placards inscribed with their grievances, demanding adequate housing, accommodation allowances, and food stipends. They also called for the payment of overtime wages, noting that they are currently required to work 10-hour shifts.
