Ahmed Abdulla made these remarks during an exclusive interview with RaajjeMV, while traveling to the atolls with the MDP leadership to campaign for the upcoming referendum. The referendum seeks public opinion on synchronizing the Presidential and Parliamentary elections to be held on a single date.
Ahmed Abdulla stated that during meetings with the public, citizens have expressed concerns over the lack of clarity and accurate information regarding the upcoming referendum. Furthermore, he noted that the Elections Commission's continued silence on the matter remains a significant cause for concern.
While the Elections Commission is established as an independent institution mandated by law to oversee the conduct of elections, and despite the legal framework clearly outlining the procedures for such processes, there is significant public concern.
