PNC utilizing state resources and employees for the council elections while deliberately obstructing MDP: Waheed
During a press conference, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) released video footage allegedly showing Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) staff erecting PNC campaign billboards in Hulhumale', while further accusing the ruling party of obstructing their activities and damaging MDP campaign materials. Despite these challenges, MDP campaign spokesperson Ahmed Waheed affirmed that the party remains undeterred and will continue its election efforts without backing down.

The main opposition party, MDP, has accused the ruling PNC of exploiting government resources and personnel for the upcoming local council elections, while alleging that the administration is systematically obstructing the party's activities in various ways.
During a press conference held by the MDP on Wednesday, Abdulla Waheed, the party’s spokesperson for the local council elections and President of the Dhidhdhoo constituency, presented a video allegedly showing the PNC utilizing government resources and personnel for election campaigning. He further stated that PNC billboards were recently installed in Hulhumale’ using the equipment and staff of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
We have obtained evidence of numerous instances where government resources and personnel are being utilized to influence this election. For example, I am highlighting a case where employees and resources of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) were mobilized to put up posters in Hulhumale'. This operation was carried out under the direction of Ahmed Arif Adam, a Fleet Manager at MPL and the brother of Minister at the President’s Office, Ali Arif.'Abdullah Waheed, the President of the Dhidhdhoo Constituency, has been appointed as the MDP spokesperson for the Local Council Elections.
Highlighting the ongoing vandalism of MDP posters and billboards, Waheed stated that the party's campaign materials in Fuvahmulah City were recently damaged. He further noted that billboards in Maradhoo, Addu City, had been vandalized, while in other instances, PNC billboards were intentionally placed directly in front of MDP posters to obstruct them from view.
Waheed stated that despite the government's attempts to obstruct the MDP in this manner, the party will not back down and will continue to move forward.
