Registration for voter list open for complaints
The Elections Commission has opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the voter registry for the upcoming April elections until February 4th. A total of 294,937 individuals are eligible to vote in this election, which features 2,960 candidates contesting for various constituencies.

The Elections Commission has opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the voter registry for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections, scheduled for April 4.
The Elections Commission opened this opportunity on Tuesday. The deadline for submitting complaints regarding ballot box information is Wednesday, the 4th of this month, at 1:30 PM. Those wishing to lodge complaints may do so online through the Elections Commission's official portal.
Individuals wishing to verify their registered polling station information can do so via SMS. Information can be obtained by sending a message to 1414. Additionally, the Elections Commission has stated that details can also be checked through the commission's registration portal.
A total of 26,454 individuals have successfully re-registered to vote during the designated period for the upcoming elections. The Elections Commission further confirmed that enough voters have registered to facilitate the placement of ballot boxes at 21 different resorts.
A total of 294,937 individuals are eligible to vote in the upcoming elections, comprising 144,527 women and 150,410 men. Scheduled for April 4, the proceedings will include elections for local councils and Women's Development Committees, alongside the 2026 national referendum.
In this election, featuring candidates from six political parties, a total of 626 island councilors and 52 city councilors will be elected. Furthermore, an equal number of members will be elected to the Women's Development Committees.
A total of 2,960 candidates are contesting in this election. This includes 1,322 candidates from the People's National Congress (PNC) and 905 candidates from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). While the Jumhooree Party (JP) is contesting in 15 constituencies, the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) is fielding candidates for 57 seats. Additionally, the Adhaalath Party (AP) is contesting for 9 seats, while 644 candidates are running as independents.
