If the wrong choice is made in the council elections, this could be the last time Maldivians see their votes count, warns Mauroof.
Speaking at an MDP rally, Kendhoo MP Mauroof Zakir characterized the Presidential Address as a collection of falsehoods. He urged citizens to seize the upcoming local council elections as an opportunity to reject President Dr. Muizzu’s administration.

Mauroof Zakir, the Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, has warned that if citizens vote incorrectly in the upcoming local council elections, it could be the last time the impact of the Maldivian people's vote is ever seen.
He made these remarks while speaking at a rally held at the MDP headquarters on Thursday night.
He stated that the upcoming local council elections represent a narrow window of opportunity to reject President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, urging the public to seize this chance. Mauroof further warned that failing to vote for the MDP in the council elections could lead to Maldivians losing their autonomy, potentially paving the way for the infringement of their fundamental right to vote.
Furthermore, Mauroof stated that the Presidential Address was merely a repetition of previous falsehoods. He added that the current administration lacks the resolve to fulfill the promises made to the citizens.
