Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that electing Rilwan, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate for the West Maafannu constituency, represents the best opportunity for the residents of that district.
Speaking to RaajjeTV ahead of a door-to-door campaign event in the West Maafannu constituency, Mayor Azim stated that Rilwan is a familiar face to the residents and possesses a deep understanding of the constituency's issues.
Mayor Azim stated that the incumbent councillor has failed to attend five consecutive council meetings. He further noted that the individual is frequently absent from the office. The Mayor remarked that electing someone with such a lack of discipline would offer no benefit or convenience to the constituents of the district.
Questioning the effectiveness of a representative who fails to attend even a single weekly session, the Mayor asserted his confidence that such negligence would not occur if Rilwan were elected.
The Mayor stated that MDP members are individuals of high integrity who are punctual and maintain consistent attendance at meetings. He further noted that they are dedicated to diligently overseeing public affairs and ensuring the effective management of municipal services.
The current councilor for this constituency has failed to bring any of these issues to the council's attention to date. Look for yourselves; the five-year term is nearing its end. What initiatives have they actually put on the agenda using public funds? If they can name even a single item they successfully proposed, let them say it. This means that throughout their entire term, they have failed to bring a single matter concerning the citizens—be it municipal, social, or economic—to the council floor. Now, they return to the public asking for re-election, promising to deliver results if given another chance. If they could not achieve anything in five years, what could they possibly accomplish now?Mayor Adam Azim
Azim stated that Rilwan was an individual who prioritized the welfare of the general public. The Mayor noted that Rilwan was deeply engaged in issues concerning the youth and the unemployed, and maintained a close understanding of the circumstances facing the elderly and the infirm.
The Mayor noted that such initiatives are driven by a genuine desire to serve the public. However, the Mayor stated that the current councillor for this constituency has failed to bring any such matters to the council's attention to date.
Mayor Azim has urged the residents of the West Maafannu constituency to deliberate carefully and elect the MDP candidate, Rilwan, highlighting him as a person of high integrity who is committed to working closely with the community. The Mayor stated that if Rilwan is elected, the residents will witness tangible results, assuring them that he will be consistently attentive to their needs and concerns.
