Publicizing internal audits clearly demonstrates that the council is operating with full transparency, says Azim
Mayor Adam Azim stated that significant efforts are underway to strengthen the administrative framework of the Male' City Council to ensure it remains a responsible and transparent institution. In addition to publishing a comprehensive list of council-owned lands, the Mayor noted that a standardized policy establishing base rates for all plots will be finalized this month to ensure fair and equitable land allocation.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that conducting and preparing to publish an internal audit for the first time in the council's long history demonstrates the institution's commitment to operating with full transparency.
Speaking at a City Council town hall meeting, Azim stated that as the Mayor of Male', he places a high priority on working responsibly toward the sustainable development of the city. He emphasized that his primary focus has been on transforming the City Council into a more accountable institution. To achieve this objective, Azim noted that significant efforts have been undertaken to strengthen the council's administrative and governance systems.
"Publicly disclosing internal audits is a clear demonstration of our openness to constructive criticism regarding internal operations. It proves our commitment to rectifying issues rather than concealing them. As part of our efforts to strengthen governance, audits conducted under the mandate of the Auditor General are also currently underway," Azim said.
Azim emphasized his commitment to prioritizing transparency in governance. He stated that publishing the list of land plots in Male' City was a measure taken to strengthen administrative processes and ensure equitable service for all citizens. Azim further noted that the objective of this initiative is to ensure that land allocation is conducted fairly and to prevent any opportunities for fraudulent practices.
Azim also stated that a policy establishing base rates for all land in Male' will be finalized within this month. He noted that this initiative will pave the way for land to be leased or allocated under a standardized framework.
