The MDP's door-to-door campaign activities in Villimalé have received a warm reception from the residents of the constituency.
Many observers are noting that this demonstrates the significant support among the residents of Villimalé for the MDP candidates in the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections.
The event, held Saturday afternoon, was attended by the MDP’s mayoral candidate for Male’ City, incumbent Mayor Adam Azim, alongside Ahmed Shaamin Rafeeu, who is contesting for the Villimalé constituency council seat. Aishath Reesha, a candidate for the presidency of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and Hawwa Ibrahim, who is running for a committee membership, also participated in the event and engaged with members of the public.

Speaking during the campaign event, Mayor Azim stated that the warm reception from the residents of Villimalé reflects their appreciation for the services he has rendered to the ward during his tenure. Azim further noted that the concerns of Villimalé residents can only be addressed by MDP candidates, who are well-versed in the decentralization system and committed to working closely with the community.

Azim stated that the current representative for the Villimalé constituency has not made any significant contribution to the district and is frequently absent from council meetings. He further noted that the ruling PNC councilors, who currently hold the majority in the Male’ City Council, deliberately disrupt the quorum whenever important matters concerning Villimalé are placed on the agenda. Consequently, Azim remarked that there is no justifiable reason to elect a candidate from any other party at this time.
