Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has joined Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidates in a door-to-door campaign for the upcoming Male' City Council elections.
During a campaign event held on Thursday afternoon, former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited several households alongside MDP candidates to engage with members of the general public.
During a door-to-door campaign event held by the MDP in the Maafannu North constituency, the party's mayoral candidate and current Male' City Mayor, Adam Azim, stated that the lack of solutions to housing issues remains the primary concern for local residents.
In addition to Mayor Azim, the event was attended by candidates representing the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections. Among those who actively participated and engaged with the public were Hussain Furushan, the candidate for the Maafannu North constituency of the City Council; Aishath Reesha, who is contesting for the presidency of the Women's Development Committee; and Mariyam Sheeza, the candidate for the Maafannu North seat on the Women's Development Committee.

Speaking to RaajjeMV regarding the MDP's door-to-door campaign activities, Mayor Azim stated that the public has been left in a state of profound distress due to President Muizzu's administration halting housing projects initiated by the MDP government in favor of wastefully pursuing the Ras Malé project.

It has become evident that the housing crisis facing our citizens has escalated to an unprecedented level. We are currently working to address these issues through an MDP-led council. From the very first day, we urged President Muizzu to expedite the reclamation of areas already connected by bridges. Had that been prioritized, people would today be living in the housing units guaranteed to them by the MDP administration. The government has squandered funds—sufficient to complete the reclamation of Gulhifalhu, Giraavarufalhu, and Uthuru Thila Falhu, as well as to establish essential services including water, sewerage, and road networks—on a project called Ras Malé. As a result of these misplaced priorities, the public has been left in a state of profound hardship.Adam Azim, the Mayor of Male' City Council.
Azim stated that the public is calling for the return of an MDP government as soon as possible to rescue them from the current hardships they are facing.

During a campaign event held by the MDP in the Maafannu North constituency, Mayor Azim and MDP candidates met with a large number of residents to understand their concerns. The high-spirited event, which was attended by former President Solih, saw a significant turnout of MDP members and supporters.
