A fire incident at Amaan Dhoadhi Tower 1, a housing project developed under the previous administration in Hulhumalé Phase II, has caused damage to the building’s plumbing system.
The fire broke out on Friday.
Providing details of the incident, the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) stated that the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service responded immediately upon receiving the report and successfully brought the fire under control. The corporation confirmed that no injuries were reported.
MNDF revealed that the incident was reported at approximately 01:11pm on Friday. Firefighters from the Hulhumalé Fire Station were dispatched to the location and began firefighting operations upon arrival.
MNDF went on to reveal that the fire, which originated at the base of the tower, was fully extinguished by 01:28pm the same day, through the coordinated efforts of the firefighting team.
In response to the incident, FDC shared important information with residents of the building through its official Viber groups.
In the message, the corporation stated that the fire caused damage to the building’s piping infrastructure. As a result, residents of Unit 6 on all floors have been requested to refrain from using water and drainage facilities in all rooms and utility areas, except for the master bedroom.
The corporation stated that investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing and that assessments are being carried out to determine the extent of structural damage and the repairs required.
In addition to this, FDC addressed the spread of false information circulating in some private Viber groups regarding the building’s ventilation shafts and waste disposal practices. The public was urged to exercise responsibility when sharing information.
Residents were advised to rely exclusively on information disseminated through the corporation’s official social media platforms and official Viber groups.
To prevent similar incidents in the future and to ensure the safety and security of residents, the corporation reiterated that the disposal of waste in areas other than those specifically designated for waste management is strictly prohibited.
