The teams from Fuvahmulah City and Thimarafushi Island of Thaa Atoll have tied in their match played in the group stage of the second round in the ongoing 90 Plus Gold Cup football tournament.
Fuvahmulah and Thimarafushi went head-to-head at the Galolhu National Stadium on Monday evening. The game ended in a 1 – 1 draw.
Before heading into Monday’s game, Fuvahmulah had won all their matches in the first round group stage of the tournament. Fuvahmulah, which had a perfect record, has drawn with Thimarafushi, bringing an end to their winning streak.
Thimarafushi was the first to score and take the lead in the match. However, Fuvahmulah managed to equalize by scoring a goal from behind. Thimarafushi took the lead in the 10th minute through Ilmaan Ahmed Moosa. He scored the goal from an opportunity created by Adam Nasih.
In the 25th minute of the first half, Fuvahmulah equalized the score. The goal for the team was scored by Kofi Owusu, the foreign player of Fuvahmulah City who has been performing well in the tournament. Kofi entered Thimarafushi's area with a ball passed by a Fuvahmulah player and sent the ball to the corner of the goal.
