The team from Kurendhoo island of Lhaviyani atoll has defeated the team from Guraidhoo island of Kaafu atoll in the last match of Group C in the ongoing 90 Plus Gold Cup football tournament.
Kurendhoo and Guraidhoo went head-to-head at the Galolhu National Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Kurendhoo won the match 1 – 0.
Kurendhoo scored their only goal in the second half. Guraidhoo had already secured a place in the second round before facing Kurendhoo on Tuesday.
Both teams had opportunities to score during the game. Guraidhoo’s attempts to score during the game were to no avail. In the 67th minute, Kurendhoo's foreign player Jordy Bart scored the goal and took the lead for the team. Even after Kurendhoo took the lead, Guraidhoo made significant efforts to equalize the score.
With this victory, Kurendhoo has also secured a spot in the second round of the tournament. Both teams finished with four points from their three matches in the group stage. Guraidhoo takes second place, while Kurendhoo sits at the third spot. K. Huraa is in fourth place with three points. Addu tops the group and has also advanced to the second round as the group winner.
