Maziya Sports and Recreation, the most recent champion of the Maldives, has lost to Abdysh from Kyrgyzstan, in their third match of the AFC Challenge League.
The team went up against FC Arkadag of Turkmenistan in their first match of the AFC Challenge League. In the match played against FC Arkadag, Maziya lost 2 – 1. Maziya was the first to score and take the lead in the match. However, FC Arkadag came from behind, scoring two goals to overtake Maziya.
Maziya's second match in the Challenge League was against Al-Arabi. Maziya lost the match 2 – 0.
Maziya faced Abdysh in the final match, played on Friday.
Maziya’s time in the tournament ended even before Friday’s game.
Abdysh defeated Maziya 3 – 0.
Abdysh scored and took the lead against Maziya in the ninth minute of the game. The goal was scored for the team by Kayrat Zhyrgalbek. Abdysh's last two goals in the match were scored in the second half.
Their second goal was scored by Atay Dzhumashev in the 63rd minute of the game and the third goal was scored by E. Yaghr in the 80th minute.
Both players entered the match as substitute players.
With this loss, Maziya fell to bottom of its group. Maziya was in Group B of the AFC Challenge League alongside FC Arkadag, Al-Arabi of Kuwait and FC Abdysh.
Arkadag and Al-Arabi secured spots in the quarterfinals.
Even with the win against Maziya, Abdysh could not progress further in the tournament.
