Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has secured a spot in the finals of the ongoing FA Cup, by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
Maziya beat Green Streets with the additional time played during Thursday’s game.
A spot in the finals, was claimed by Maziya after a heated game which ended with both teams tied at 1 -1.
With this, 15 minutes were played as additional time in two halves, where 10 players from Green competed after the team’s captain, Rilwan Waheed was slapped with a red card for foul play at the 87th minute.
Maziya’s Akram Abdul Ghanee secured the lead in the first half. Rilwan from Green Streets tied the score with a free kick.
The winning team’s Hamza Mohamed scored the tie-breaker in the additional time played. The third goal was scored by Moosa Yameen.
Maziya won the game 3 – 1.
The second spot in the finals was secured by Club Valencia, after beating Super United Sports (SUS) during Thursday night's semifinals.
Maziya is the two-time defending champions of the tournament, having claimed the trophy in the last three seasons consecutively.
