Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has won the Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League (DPL) after thrashing Club Eagles in an exciting final.

Maziya won the finals with an easy score of 5 – 0.

This is the third consecutive time Maziya has claimed the DPL trophy. The finals were held at the Galolhu Football Stadium on Monday.

The champion had a major lead when the league began, having secured the top spot in the table with 60 points through 21 games played in the league.

The team’s closest opponent Eagles trails closely at second, with 46 points.

The only game Maziya lost in the league was to Eagles in the second round.

Captain Asadhulla Abdulla, who scored two out of Maziya’s five goals in the finals, was dubbed man of the match.

The team’s first score was by Ibrahim Waheed Hassan, followed by Naaiz Hassan extending the lead for the team. The third score was by Asadhulla. Hamza Mohamed also scored for the team in the finals.

After the resounding victory, Maziya’s goalie Kiran Chemjong was named best goalkeeper of the game with United Victory honored the fair play title.
