The harbor breakwater and quay wall construction project underway in Hithaadhoo island of Baa atoll, is progressing well.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company on Wednesday.
As such, the company took to Twitter to provide the latest update of the Hithaadhoo harbor breakwater and quay wall construction project.
MTCC revealed that they have completed the installation of precast concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction component of the project.
Currently ongoing is the concrete work for the quay wall construction component, according to the company.
In late April, MTCC completed the existing harbor basin dredging operations and delivered the full shipment of concrete blocks required for quay wall construction to the project site.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to carry out dredging and excavation operations in an area measuring 14,929 cubic meters as well as entrance channel dredging operations in an area measuring 4,101 cubic meters.
The construction of a 22-meter groyne, a breakwater measuring 495 meters and a revetment of 90 meters, also come under the scope of the project.
MTCC will also be conducting quay wall repairing work in an area of 350 meters, constructing a bridge, a ramp and a concrete platform under the project.
The project will also see the installation of a harbor pavement measuring 1,750 square meters as well as navigational aids and harbor lights.
The Hithaadhoo harbor breakwater and quay wall construction project is valued at MVR 19.80 million.
