Man dismissed after four years at WAMCO because his name is on MDP registry

Sathiu’s termination coincides with the dismissal of two other employees affiliated with the opposition MDP, further fueling claims of political influence behind the layoffs.

Ali Sathiu Adam Naseer, a Senior Human Resources Officer at the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), has been dismissed from his position after four years of service.
In the termination letter issued by WAMCO, the corporation stated that his dismissal was due to prevailing economic conditions. The document further clarified that his employment was terminated effective immediately, with payment provided in lieu of the notice period. The letter also noted that all outstanding payments owed to him would be settled within a period of one month.
In a post on X, he disclosed the matter and strongly criticized the government's move.
Sathiu stated that terminating the employment of individuals over political differences is a clear indication of the government's failure. He further noted that positions and power are not permanent, emphasizing that administrations change and the day when those currently in power are replaced is not far off.
Addressing Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) Managing Director Mujthaba Jaleel, he stated that instead of dismissing employees over differing political views, it would be far more appropriate to settle the outstanding pension contributions that have remained unpaid for over a year despite being deducted from staff salaries. He further urged the Managing Director to clarify the status of these missing funds.
Sathiu stated that he does not hold a political position. He further noted that his employment contract does not prohibit him from joining any specific political party.
In addition to Saathiu, two other employees working in WAMCO's Human Resources department, who are registered members of the MDP, have also been dismissed from their positions.
