Maldives' Maziya Sports and Recreation Club is out of the AFC Cup group stage after losing against India's ATK Mohun Bagan on Saturday.

The Maldivian champions lost the match with a 1-3 score in the match played in the country's National Stadium.

While both teams showed an equal performance throughout the match, Maziya who had multiple goal opportunities took the lead in the 25th minute, with a goal by midfielder Aisam Ibrahim. The first half ended with the Maldivian team in the lead.

However, Mohun Bagan changed the game during the second half, scoring a equalizer just three minutes in to the second half. The team took the lead with a goal in the 63rd minute.

With this win ATK Mohun Bagan has moved to first place in the AFC Cup - South Group D, with six points after winning both its games so far.

While Saturday's first match between Bangladesh's Bashundhara Kings and India's Bengaluru FC ended in a goalless draw, Bashundhara is in second in the group stage with four points; it won its first match against Maziya last week. The Maldivian team is in the last spot with zero points having lost both its matches so far, while Bengaluru FC is in third with one point after Saturday's draw.

The two teams in the bottom of the group have been eliminated.

During the last match day of the group stage, Mohun Bagan will face Bashundhara Kings. Eventual group leaders will advance to the single-leg Inter Zone Semi-final.

While this is the seventh time Maziya has taken competed in the AFC Cup tournament, they have yet to advance from the group stage round.
