Mohamed Nizam has resigned as the head coach of Maziya Sports and Recreation Club.

The club on Sunday announced that its board has accepted Nizam’s resignation.

Maziya also thanked Nizam for his services as head coach, and wished him luck in all future endeavors.

Further, the team announced that assistant coach, Ahmed Suzair, will takeover until a new head coach is appointed.

While Nizam was appointed as Maziya’s head coach in July this year, his first game with the club ended in an embarrassing defeat; Club Eagles cameback from two goals down to beat Maziya at the Charity Shield match held at the start of the football season this month.

Despite this loss, the club is currently on top of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL) table on goal difference.

Maziya beat United Victory (UV) with a 4-0 score in its first match in the league, and thrashed Club Green Streets 7-1 during the second week. While it drew with Club Valencia last weekend, both teams have seven points in the table.

Maziya will face Da Grande Sports Club, next Sunday.
