Rizey was injured during the FA Charity Shield match held ahead of the start of the football season

While Club Eagles’ star forward suffered a blow to his knee ahead of the Dhivehi Premier League, coach Mohamed Shiyaz has revealed that its serious.

Ahmed “Rizey” Rizwan was injured during the FA Charity Shield match held earlier this month, ahead of the start of the football season. While the team won the match with a 3-2 score, Rizey scored one and assisted in the other two. Sadly, he suffered a blow to the knee towards the end of the game.

Hence, the club’s star forward has been out since the start of the season missing both matches thus far.

Eagles lost both these matches, with a 1-0 against Super United Victory while TC Sports Club thrashed them with a 2-0 score on Sunday.

Speaking to the media after Sunday’s loss, coach Shiyaz revealed the seriousness of Rizey’s injury, adding that they can only know when he can get back on the field after a test to be done in 10 to 15 days.

Noting that the team had missed easy opportunities in both the matches played without Rizey, Shiyaz said that the players’ motivation has been down since his injury.

While Hassan Raif Ahmed and Ahmed Nooman were also benched due to injuries during Sunday’s game, the coach had to send Nooman on the field due to lack of choices.

Club Eagles’ next match is against Da Grande Sports Club this Friday. While Eagles is yet to earn a point in the league table, Da Grande has four points with one win and one draw.
