An additional 77 cases of the global coronavirus have been reported in the Maldives.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s latest publication, the new cases reported by 6pm Saturday include 56 Maldivians, 20 Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian national.
This has pushed the country’s Covid-19 tally to 3,252.
Further, with an additional 76 recoveries reported on Saturday, the country’s total recoveries sit at 2,534.
Maldives has seen 15 deaths related to the global pandemic thus far, while the country has 688 active cases of the infection currently.
541 individuals are currently remaining in isolation facilities across the nation with none in quarantine.
The Greater Malé Region went into a full-lockdown on April 15, following the detection of a community transmission since virus surfaced in the Maldives in March.
However, with the authorities deeming the lockdown to have been effective in controlling and containing the spread of the virus, they began easing the lockdown in phases, from May 29.
The country is currently in phase three, where a number of restrictions are still in place. However, since the lockdown easing plan began, the country has seen surging cases, mostly locals and the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) has since revealed that most of the cases are being discovered from government offices, which reopened on July 5.
