A white alert has been issued from Haa Alif to Dhaal atoll following the prediction of squally weather across the region.
The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) issued the white alert over regions after predicting heavy rain showers and thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour are expected over these regions.
The department revealed that the advisory is effected from 4:30pm to 9:30pm.
Generally, scattered rain showers and a thunderstorms are expected over northern and central atolls, with a few heavy showers at times.
Isolated showers and a few thunderstorms have been predicted in the south.
Further, the department revealed that surface winds will vary from south to southwesterly at 10 – 18 miles per hour in the north and central atolls and southeast to southerly at 5 – 15 miles per hour in the south.
Winds may gust to 40 miles per hour during showers, predicted MET.
Seas are expected to be slight in the south and moderate becoming rough during showers in the north and central atolls.
