Another white alert has been issued from Haa Alif to Lhaviyani atoll.
Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) extended the white alert for a third time on Saturday morning, after having initially issued the alert from 1am to 5am. It was extended for a second time from 5am to 10am.
An advisory issued early Saturday reads that the regions from Haa Alif to Lhaviyani atoll will experience strong monsoon activities.
The white alert will remain in effect through 11am to 5pm.
Throughout the period, MET office predicts heavy rain showers and thunderstorms with winds gusting at 40 miles per hour.
Generally, the department predicts seas to be moderate becoming rough during showers, which may be heavy at times for which the public is urged to be cautious.
MET office predicts scattered rain showers with isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms over the country, with winds varying between west to northwesterly in central atolls as well as the north and southwest to westerly in the south, at a speed of 08 – 18 miles per hour.
Winds may gust 45 miles per hour during showers.
