A fourth Covid-19 patient has passed away in Maldives.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that an 88-year-old patient admitted at DH11 passed away at 11:15pm on Wednesday. Deceased is Hussain Abdulla, founder of MHA and a successful businessman.
Authorities had previously revealed that the 88-yo patient was placed on ventilation following complications, on May 3. He was admitted at Dharumavantha on April 30. Hussain Abdulla had made various contributions to society, and was also recognized for these contributions. As such, he was conferred the Order of Nishan Kalaafaanu, one of the highest honours conferred by the state, in 1992.
He also received the National Award of Recognition in 2005. Abdulla is native to Maroshi island in Shaviyani atoll, where he served as the island chief for a number of years. He was also the husband of the country’s first Covid-19 victim, 83-year-old Aminath Adam. He was admitted at DH11 after her demise.
In addition, an 80-year-old Maldivian as well as 33-year-old Bangladeshi - both men - have also succumbed to Covid-19.
