Police "still investigating" sudden death of married couple

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that it is still investigating the death of a married couple, who were found dead on Sunday.

Speaking to RaajjeMV on Wednesday, police said that the investigation into their death is still ongoing, but refused to disclose any further information, citing ongoing investigation.

47-year-old Gasim Shahid and 42-year-old Razeena Ibrahim were found dead in their rooms in an apartment in Maafaanu Light Signal on Sunday morning. They were buried together in one grave at the Aa’saharaa Cemetery, after Monday afternoon prayers.

Police had said the burial was held after officers finished gathering all the necessary information for the investigation.

Their bodies were found by worried residents of the apartment, after they failed to leave the room since Saturday evening.

According to eyewitness, Gasim and Raseena’s bodies did not show any signs of violence. Their bodies were taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for examination.

The two were originally from Thaa Atoll Villufushi, and leave behind three children.
