The condition of the 80-year-old Covid-19 patient has deteriorated and is being given oxygen treatment.

Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed this at Wednesday’s nights press conference at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).

While the elderly man was admitted at DH11 at Dharumavantha Hospital shortly after testing positive for Covid-19 on April 21, the doctor said that he is now being given oxygen therapy after his condition worsened.

It was earlier revealed that the man had been bedridden for two years after suffering a stroke, when he contracted the virus, and that the patient has ‘several comorbidities including diabetics, high blood pressure and cholesterol and was frequently admitted for treatment of recurrent respiratory pneumonia’.

The 80-yo is among the three Covid-19 patients currently hospitalized; two others, a 48-year-old Pakistani man and 68-year-old Maldivian woman, were admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital earlier this week.
