A total of nine patients are currently admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), the hospital has revealed.
IGMH’s Public Relations and Media Director, Ahmed Mausoom, speaking on RaajjeTV’s Khabaru Feethaa program on Tuesday, said that a number of people are still lining up at the hospital’s flu clinic, but noted that the number has decreased since March 18.
He said that a total of 27 had been treated at the hospital’s ICU by Monday, and that 3,499 people have come for consultation at its flu clinic.
IGMH began administering flu vaccination to expectant mothers on March 15.
“We have provided vaccines to a total of 888 pregnant women so far, flu vaccines are being administered to expectant mothers every day, except Friday,” Mausoom said.
The IGMH flu clinic was opened on March 11, a few days before the H1N1 outbreak was made public.
On March 13, Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced the rapid spread of the disease, declaring alert level at phase three and closing off schools. Three individuals have succumbed to the disease thus far.
