Individuals that attended the Gulfood Expo Dubai in February have been asked to report to authorities.

Dr. Ibrahim Afzal made the appeal at the daily Covid-19 press conference held on Monday night.

He stressed that there is reason to believe that some of those that attended the expo “did actually come back with the Covid-19”.

Hence, the doctor asked those that attended the expo held from February 16-20 to report to 1676, the hotline for corona related issues.

“We are currently looking for all those that attended the Gulf food expo from 16 – 20 February. If you have been to this expo and you are currently in Maldives, we would like you to let us know by calling 1676, our hotline for corona related issue”

He added that it is not likely that any of the individuals will be taken in to quarantine or even isolation, and emphasized that this is being done “to do a backtracking to find out how many had this infection”.

“Its is not because we think you have the disease, we are interested in knowing whether you had any symptoms, how long you had them, and even though you might not currently have the infection, we have reason to believe that some of them did actually come back with Covid-19.”
