Maldives Police Service (MPS) has apprehended two individuals with a large amount of contraband on Monday.

According to police, arrested are; a 23-year-old and a 16-year-old. Police did not give out any other details regarding those in custody.

Police said both men were caught and brought into custody in a special operation conducted by Hulhumalé Police and the Drug Enforcement Department on Monday night.

They were arrested around 7:55 pm on Monday, from the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal in Malé.     

Police revealed that after stopping and searching the suspects, they had found 17 film cans, containing substance suspected to be narcotics.

Police Drug Enforcement Department is currently investigating the case.
