Harassment of doctors and healthcare professionals will not be tolerated, say the spokesperson of the government’s Covid-19 taskforce.
Mohamed Mabrook Aziz made the statement at Wednesday’s press conference, where he expressed disappointment at the harassment directed towards these professionals rather than appreciating their work.
Noting that these are people that have been working “day and night” to ensure the safety of the Maldivian people, Mabrook said that their work must be valued “even if it is not going as fast as you want”.
He stressed that healthcare professionals are making a “huge sacrifice” for the people.
Further, he highlighted that the whole nation is depending on healthcare workers, the spokesperson said that their instructions “must be followed”.
He said that while constructive criticism is welcome, that harassment is just not tolerable.
