Doctors have conducted a six-hour operation of the arm on the captain of the boat which capsized on Thursday.
‘The Princess’ which had been carrying cargo to a resort being constructed in Raa atoll capsized after colliding with a reef. The incident had caused two Indian employees of Alia Construction to drown.
The boat’s captain, Ali Moosa - a man native to Raa atoll – had sustained severe injuries to his right arm, with severe cuts and nerve damage.
Doctors began operating on the 60-year-old at 4:00 pm and finished treating him at around 11:00 pm.
Moosa had attempted to exit the captain’s quarters – which is the only sheltered structure on the boat – as collision occurred.
