Two recovered cases of Covid-19 have been discharged after completing treatment at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

During the National Emergency Operations Centre's (NEOC) daily press briefing held on Friday night, spokesperson for the government's Covid-19 taskforce, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that the two patients who have recovered from Covid-19 were discharged on Friday.

The two patients are foreign nationals who began exhibiting symptoms while at Sandies Bathala Resort. Out of 19 confirmed cases, they are patient 3 and patient 4.

Mabrook stated that they are set to depart the country upon release. They will be leaving on a flight scheduled to leave on Saturday.

While they were discharged today, they had recovered much earlier but were kept under monitoring to ensure symptoms do not return. Their samples returned negative on March 18th and April 1st.

While the Maldives has a total of 19 confirmed cases, 13 have recovered and four are undergoing treatment; 2 active cases are quarantined in Italy as their samples returned after they had departed the country. Authorities report that they had been allowed to leave as they were asymptomatic.

Further, Mabrook stated that a total of 1434 samples have been collected as of Friday, 16:00. 1364 have returned negative and 51 samples are pending results.

There are a total of 11 people at Velidhoo Isolation Facility and 881 people are under quarantine at various facilities around the Maldives.
