Maradhoo constituency MP, Ibrahim Shareef, says that he has been receiving death threats via phone.
In a tweet posted on Tuesday, the lawmaker revealed the number sending him threats.
A Twitter user pointed out that owner of the number can be looked up through the service provide, to which Shareef responded that the number is registered to a Mohamed Ismail.
While this Twitter user also criticized the MP’s choice of tags in the tweet and not the polices, he said that the matter has been submitted to the People’s Majlis and added that they “will do the needful.”
However, Shareef did not reveal the context of the messages sent to him and the parliament is yet to officially comment on the matter.
As per protocol, the parliament provides security is such cases.
