'President Yamin is an exemplar of democracy' says MP Nihan

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan Hussein Manik has on Thursday said that President Yameen Abdul Gayoom is an exemplar of democracy.

MP Nihan also said that President Yameen was a credit to his party, highlighting how PPM would not have been able to make the developments it has today without him.

“We must not forget Madame Fathimath’s [the first lady] contributions to the initiative to boost party members” the parliamentarian said.

He added that President Yameen’s victory in the 2013 elections is a clear sign of the support for him.

“PPM has shown its merit” Home Minister Azleen Ahmed said “We had won the ballots for the local council, parliamentary, and even presidential elections, no party has ever done this”.

President Yameen had told the same assembly that Maldives is conducive for free and fair elections, and governance would always follow majority support.
