Speaker and former President, Mohamed Nasheed has concluded his tour across the southernmost atolls.
Nasheed’s tour started on Wednesday, from Thinadhoo island in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll. He headed to VIllingilli island in Gaafu Alifu atoll on Wednesday night, as he was set to partake in the Southern-atolls Councilors Conference 2019 the next day.
He also laid the foundation for the island’s new powerhouse.
While the conference ended on Thursday night, the speaker traveled to Fuvahmulah City on Friday and Addu City on Saturday.
The former president received a warm welcome from each island and city. He also met with island councils and discussed their concerns, as well as Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) offices in the islands.
Nasheed is running for MDP presidency in the upcoming leadership elections, to be held on November 22.
Parliament representatives of some of these island’s that Nasheed visited, had joined him during the trip to their respective constituencies.
