CT scan and cardiac center services have been officially launched at Hdh. Kulhudhuhfushi Regional Hospital.
While speaking at the launching ceremony held at H.Dh Atoll Education Centre, Health Minister Abdulla Ameen announced the hospital will officially provide CT scans and non-invasive cardiac tests such as the echocardiogram, treadmill testing, and holter monitoring from Friday onwards.
According to the minister, 74 patients were referred to Male' on emergency medical transportation for such testing in the past year, requiring chartered or scheduled flights at a cost of MVR125,600/- per patient or MVR14,966/-, respectively. He added that these referrals incur further expenses on the patient's family and the introduction of these services will significantly reduce these costs.

Statistics show that an average of three-hundred and five people seek treatment from Kulhudhuhfushi regional hospital. This number goes up to six-hundred and fifty people on Saturdays, most of whom are residents of Hdh, Ha and Sh atolls. There are currently twenty-eight doctors, 78 nurses and 16 other medical professionals providing treatment at Hdh. Kulhudhuhfushi Regional Hospital.
The CT scan and cardiac center, which officially launched on Friday, will cater to sixty-four thousand people. These services are initiatives taken by the current administration under its plans to develop five hospitals.
The health ministry predicts the service will accommodate twenty-three thousand people from HA., twenty-seven thousand people from Hdh., and eighteen-thousand people from Sh. atoll.
