Fund box in Dhihdhoo chapter
MDP Dhihdhoo chapter says that they have amassed MVR 23,105 to the Dignity Fund box placed in the island, in solidarity with RaajjeTV’s Fund box.
Ali Hashim Didi of the Dhihdhoo chapter reported that they opened the Fund box on Sunday and had received massive support from the island. He added that they expected more contributions from the island.
RaajjeTV Business Development Manager Simana Ismail says that this was unexpected levels of support and that RaajjeTV thanked the effort. Simana said that more donations are coming into the Fund box placed in Male’ and in other regions.
The Dignity Fund was opened following an MVR 200,000 fine imposed on the channel by Maldives Broadcasting Commission under the draconian Anti-Defamation bill.
Additionally, the channel’s journalists Mohamed Wisam and Leevaan Ali Nasir had been fined by MVR 28,800 each, while cameraman Adam Zareer was fined by MVR 3,000.
An additional trial is currently on going against Wisam, while the station’s Chief Operating Officer Hussain Fiyaz Moosa is under trial as well.
