Parliament’s budget evaluation committee has approved the request to increase the state budget by MVR 1.7 billion.
In a letter to parliament, the finance ministry requested that the state budget be increased by MVR 1.704 billion.
The parliament has passed a state budget of MVR 30.2 billion for this year. If the request is passed, the budget would increase to MVR 32 billion.
The finance minister and senior officials of Maldives Monetary Authority and Auditor General’s office were summoned to the budget evaluation committee on Sunday.
The committee agreed to allow each MP seven minutes to debate on their report.
