Public Accounts Committee cancelled due to chair's absence

Members of the committee would have discussed the reports prepared by a subcommittee charged with analyzing audits.

Members of the parliament’s Public Accounts Committee have had to cancel their session scheduled for Tuesday, after committee chair MP Ahmed Nihan failed to attend.

MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa told RaajjeMV that the committee is currently engaged in overseeing audits of various administrative branches of the state, and that MP Nihan is trying to ‘hide’ the government’s underhanded activity.

MP Nihan is the parliamentary group leader for the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Tuesday’s committee session, had it not been cancelled, would have seen a decision on the report by a subcommittee charged with analyzing the audits.
