50 accidents were reported within the last week.

Police statistics show that 50 road accidents were reported from 20-26 July. It added that there were 15 injuries related to accidents, and that the licenses of five individuals were seized over the matter.

A total of 220 vehicles were checked within the time period, with top traffic violations including violation of traffic signs, insurance and road worthiness as well as underage driving.

Police said that 109 individuals were caught without a license and that 66 did not have the license card with them when checked by officers. In addition, 41 individuals were driving without valid insurance and road worthiness and that 29 had failed to pay annual fee, while 13 vehicles were stopped for traffic violations and 55 for speeding.

Police are to have issued advisories or taken action eight individuals for driving without a valid license, 45 for driving while on phone or headset, three for smoking while driving and 17 for switching lanes or overtaking illegally, as well as two for “illegal taxing.”

In addition, police are to have issued parking violation stickers to a total of 256 vehicles.
