Two pro-government MPs reported to defect
Two MPs currently aligned with the government are to defect, reportedly
The names of these parliamentarians or which party they will join are yet unclear
The last PPM council meeting unprecedentedly marred with heavy debate

Reports that two parliamentarians aligned with President Abdulla Yameen’s faction of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) will soon join the opposition have surfaced.

While this has been reported to RaajjeMV as well, it is yet unclear who said two MPs are or which party they will join.

These reports surfaced while the allied opposition parties are working to garner support for another vote of no-confidence against parliament speaker Abdulla Maseeh.

The last council meeting of the divided PPM's faction loyal to President Yameen was unprecedentedly marred with parliamentarians putting forth concerns from the general public. Among these concerns are rising prices of staple food and electricity.

A source who was at the meeting told RaajjeMV that further heavy debate had ensured about the direction of the government and its current political tactics – including using MPs to extradite unjust bills.
