President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have returned to Maldives after concluding an official visit to Singapore.
While they traveled to Singapore on Saturday, they returned on Tuesday night.
During the visit, President Solih met with the President Halimah Yacob and the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
At the meeting with PM Loong, both leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation and expressed interest in further consolidating bilateral relations that have thrived for over four decades, and expressed their mutual resolve to strengthen and diversify cooperation in international fora.
In addition, they signed two MoUs; an updated Air Services Agreement that will improve air connectivity, and an MOU on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore to give further impetus to bilateral ties.
The president also extended invitations to both the President and Prime Minister of Singapore to visit the Maldives at a mutually convenient date, which both accepted.
President Solih also met with members of the Maldivian community in Singapore “to better grasp their particular concerns and enquired as to how the Maldivian Government can be of assistance,” and toured the Pulau Semakau landfill.
