Vice President Faisal Naseem has paid a courtesy call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Vice President Faisal met the Indian Prime Minister at the President’s Office, after he arrived in the Maldives on Saturday.
During the meeting, Vice President Faisal welcomed PM Modi and offered his congratulations for his re-election, and for leading his party to a landslide victory in India’s general elections, noting that it was indicative of the trust and confidence that the citizens of India have vested in both the Prime Minister and his party.
During the meeting, the two discussed new areas for cooperation between India and Maldives, including social development, and Vice President Faisal emphasized the vital role played by the Indian government in maintaining peace and harmony in the Indian Ocean.
The Vice President also expressed gratitude for India’s continued assistance provided to the Maldives and said that it was an honor to receive PM Modi in the Maldives for his first visit abroad since his re-election.
During the meeting, the two pledged their commitment to maintain friendly ties between the governments of India and the Maldives.
