Male’ City Council has been requested to ban spitting on the streets.

The request was made by Ahmed Shamir, the councilor for South Mahchangolhi.

Highlighting that many foreign workers spit on the streets of the capital city, Councilor Shamir proposed to ban the act as part of the City Council’s efforts to make Male’ a clean and hygienic city.

Male’ City Council has also banned smoking on the streets of the capital city, which will come into effect after six months
