An officer of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) was injured in an accident, on Monday.
Police said that the accident, involving a car and a motorcycle on the Sinamalé Bridge, was reported around 3:15 pm. The car was parked at the side of the lane due to a tire puncture, when the motorcycle crashed into it.
While a police officer was driving the motorcycle, police said that he had sustained minor injuries including to the head.
Both the car driver and the officer had the license to operate vehicles.
This is the second accident reported on Monday; two motorcycles crashed into each other on Ameenee Magu.
Despite the police’s special operation to control the traffic during Ramadan, accidents have been on the rise.
